Abstract Aggregates are the most stable component in concrete, and their particle shape has a significant impact on the comprehensive performance of concrete. In order to find an accurate and quantitative method for describing the particle shape parameters of aggregates, digital graphic processing technology (DIP technology) was used to study the particle shape of coarse aggregates from moderately weathered granite in this article. The feasibility and accuracy of using DIP technology measuring method was proved by comparing and analyzing the detection data using vernier calipers and DIP technology. The analysis shows that each parameter of aggregate particle shape obeys the law of normal distribution, and verifies the law that different particle sizes of crushed stone aggregate produced by the same parent rock and the same production process have the same particle shape parameter. The research method and conclusions based on the coarse aggregate shape of moderately weathered granite, which has reference value for local practical engineering and can also be used for studying the particle shape of other regional engineering or other rock mass aggregates.
