Abstract Under the background of rural revitalization strategy and “dual carbon” goal, rooftop photovoltaic can optimize rural energy structure, energy conservation and emission reduction, coordinate the orderly development of economic, social and environmental benefits, and accelerate the pace of rural modernization and urbanization in Lingnan rural area. The current situation of Lingnan's built environment, photovoltaic power generation system, the advantages of combining rural residential buildings and photovoltaics in Lingnan, and the actual installation methods and related points of rooftop photovoltaic suitable for residential buildings in Lingnan were reviewed. The development prospect of rural rooftop photovoltaic was prospected.
