Abstract The presence of organic dyes in water causes significant ecological and public health problems，thus remediation of water contaminated with organic dyes is of great importance. In this paper，aminated magnetically reduced graphene oxide （NH2-MrGO） was synthesised by co-precipitation method and used for the adsorption of methyl orange （MO） in water. The synthesized composites were characterized by advanced techniques，including scanning electron microscopy （SEM），Zeta potential， fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FT-IR），and hysteresis return line analysis. Subsequently，the temperature and pH on the adsorption properties were investigated. The findings of the study indicated that the maximum adsorption of MO by NH2-MrGO was 15.7 mg/g，with a removal rate of 78.5%. Meanwhile，the adsorption process was found to be consistent with the Freundlich model. This study can provide theoretical support and data reference for the treatment and elimination of organic dye pollutants in water.
