Abstract The four-way cross population is an effective QTL(Quantitative trait loci) detection population. The research progress on QTL mapping base on four-way cross population in maize and cotton was reviewed. It was mainly about the traits such as plant type, density tolerance and flowering on maize and the traits such as plant type, physiology, yield and fiber quality on cotton. It is of great significance for the genetic breeding of corn and cotton.
