Abstract According to the list of drug and food homologous articles promulgated by the Ministry of Health of China, functional components in homologous articles and its blood pressure lowering mechanism of 10 kinds of medicines with blood pressure lowering functions such as Laiwuzi, Hawthorn, Chrysanthemum, Pueraria, Cassia, Oyster, Papaya, Bergamot, Walnut and Kumbu were expounded from the perspective of dietary therapy. The development status of blood pressure lowering foods was summarized, and the development prospects and directions of medicines and food homologous blood pressure lowering foods was pointed out.
